General area information: |
- Access: terrestrial, aerial and fluvial.
- To get to Tortuguero, you must combine a land trip with
a boat trip along the Tortuguero Canals.
- Tortuguero can also be reached on a 30-minute flight from
San Jose with one of the two domestic airlines, serving once
a day to the area.
- Weather is that proper to the Tropical Rain Forest, a
little bit humid and rainy. Temperature is warm, approximately

Morning Tortuguero Canal Boat Tour

- 2 ½ hour tour- Tour description: Boat tour in the early morning (6-8 am)
along one of the small canals in the National Park. A wonderful
way to enjoy nature at rising.
- Services included: boat, bilingual guide and captain
- For: people of all ages.
- Recommendations: Sun block, comfortable and light cotton clothes,
hat / visor, comfortable shoes (sneakers or sandals), camera
and binoculars.
Tortuguero National Park Hike/Walk

- 2 ½ hour tour- Tour description: Walk through the National Park's trails.
Services included: transportation, bilingual guide & equipment
(rubber boots)
- For: For people of all ages in general good physical shape
and ability to walk.
- Recommendations: Long pants, insect repellant, hat / visor,
camera and binoculars.
Afternoon Tortuguero Canal Boat Trip

hour tour- Tour description: Boat trip excursion along the smaller canals
in the early afternoon (from 3 to 5 pm). It visits a different
canal than the early morning boat tour.
- Services included: Boat transportation, bilingual guide and
captain
- For: people of all ages.
- Recommendations: Sun block, comfortable and light cotton clothes,
hat / visor, comfortable shoes (sneakers or sandals), camera
and binoculars.
Green Turtle Nesting Tour

- Tour description: Walk along the beach at the Tortuguero National
to observe the nesting of the Green sea turtle ( only in season
from July to September).
- Services included: Local guide and Park Fee
- For: People in good physical condition with the ability of
walking for a period of 2 hours. Not recommended for small children.
- Recommendations: Dark clothes (preferably black), long pants,
comfortable walking shoes, insect repellant. No cameras are
allowed or flashlights.
Fishing Tour

- Tour description: Optional tours for those who want to try
their luck fishing fresh water canal species.
- Services included: boat, captain and fishing equipment
- For: Fishing enthusiasts of all ages.
- Recommendations: Sun block, light cloths, hat / visor and
comfortable shoes.
